  3. periods when the disk structure is in
  4. jeopardy.  Many disk caches produce periods
  5. when directories point to files which have
  6. not yet been allocated in the File Allocation
  7. Table on the disk.  If a crash occurs during
  8. these jeopardy periods, cross-linked files
